Bio
Who I am:
Chris Amico, a journalist. I’m not so much concerned with the medium. I’m fascinated by the way things fit together and love a good story. My full resume is here.
What I do:
I have a talent for dissecting large organizations: Businesses. Non-profits. School districts. Bureaucracy. Anything with people and moving parts. I like to see how it works and explain it in a way that makes sense.
In 2007, I helped start DalianDalian.com, a local news and community site focusing on Dalian, China. I oversee content and development.
How I got here:
I stumbled into journalism midway through college and haven’t really wanted to do anything else since. Except travel. But if I can do both at the same, all the better.
I learned the basics at City on a Hill Press. For my first two years out of college, I worked at the Antelope Valley Press, in Palmdale, California, before moving across the Pacific. I’ve covered:
acton Agua Dulce alameda av high avuhsd breaking news charity charter schools china courts crime dalian east bay education elections evolution iraq irish korea lancaster military palmdale politics profiles san francisco schwarzenegger sex sports technology the balkans travel unions vasquez high
I moved back to California in February 2008, where I freelanced for:
- Bay Area News Group
- Legal Newsline
- East Bay Express
- Institutional Real Estate
- Spot.us
In 2009, I moved east to work for the PBS NewsHour, where I tell stories with data and documents.
